Which Okie Speaks the Most?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

In Congress that is.  This is a new and extremely fun site to visit.  You click on whichever state you want, then choose two different members of Congress and see who spoke the most words in the 110th Congress.  After each faceoff, it will present you with each members stats – how many words, which words were most spoken, and voting history.

All together, the members of Congress spoke 14,548,598 words.  Click on the photo below to visit Congress Speaks.

Flaming Lips on Colbert Report

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Last night (9/16/09) Wayne Coyne and the Flaming Lips were Stephen’s guests on the Colbert Report on Comedy Central.  The interview is priceless, especially the part where Stephen asks about “Do You Realize??” being our new State Rock n’ Roll song.  You can also listen to the entire new album “Embyonic” on the Colbert Nation website.  Click on the pic below to watch the interview and listen to the new Flaming Lips album.

In honor of the 52nd Legislature

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

welcome-to-oklahoma

To honor Oklahoma’s 52nd Legislature for the many regressive bills passed this session, here is a little poem I wrote as a tribute.

Has the 21st Century got you down?

Does new technology and science make you frown?

It doesn’t have to distress you,

Don’t let it depress you,

The perfect place for you has been found.

Once you pass that Oklahoma line

Our Legislature will take you back in time

Where if you’re white, male and own land

In Oklahoma you’ll be living just grand

By the time the 52nd Session is done,

We’ll be living like its 1601,

Flat again the earth will be

No longer will All be included in We

You may risk being burned at the stake

If your progressive thoughts you don’t shake

Only Puritans will be welcome here

All others should live in fear

Welcome to Oklahoma, where simple minds hold sway

And Neanderthals rule the day!

‘Idiot of the Year’

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

The witty and clever clan over at The Lost Ogle, taking their cue from Oklahoma Today’s “Oklahoman of the Year Award,” have announced their choice for Oklahoma’s “Idiot of the Year Award.”

I agree with their choice 100%.  Some hints about the winner:

·         A Republican

·         “not a good ol’ boy”

·         Sheriff Whetsel publicly called him an Idiot and made headlines

·         Thought a comic book was the way to win re-election

·         In trouble with the Law and the IRS

And the winner of The Lost Ogle’s Idiot of the Year is …
